Kenansville, county seat of Duplin County, is a peaceful small town rich in history and proud of its heritage. Kenansville is located in the fertile Coastal Plains of southeastern NC.
Settled in 1735 by immigrants from Northern Ireland, these early pioneers called their town “Golden Grove”.

The present town of Kenansville was chartered in 1852 and named for James Kenan. Kenansville is just 55 miles north of Wilmington and 80 miles southeast of Raleigh. Kenasville also is the home of Vidant Duplin, a 101-bed community hospital, James Sprunt Community College, Duplin County Events Center and Liberty Hall.
